Last weekend we had the opportunity to go visit the Marine Max Buford location and meet up with our Nautique Boats family! They were in town for a “Ride with the Pros” event then headed to the Nautique Wake Surf Nationals and guess what…they had a 2016 G23! It was great catching up with Noah Flegel and Jimmy LaRiche, and our longtime friend and rep for Hyperlite/Byerly, Eddie Beverly. Eddie, or “EBev,” as he is most known by, had a special treat for us to see with a quiver of 2016 Hyperlite and Byerly surfers. We must say that these two brands knocked it out of the park this year. Most notably Hyperlite has this insane new shape called “The Time Machine.” Seriously, if you know anything about surfing this board is similar to the Tomo surfboards Vader series, but tweaked for wakesurfing. If that weren’t enough, the Time Machine features a cork top for maximum grip, as well as all new Futures Fins! The Byerly crew also have another banger with the 2016 Action, as it features Durashell construction with a EPS core and yes, Byerly Futures Fins! You would be wise to add either one of these to your quiver.
Slingshot, the originators of flex technology, has really been making a push over the course of the past couple of seasons…and their 2012 line continues to explore the boundaries of wakeboard construction and performance.
Possibly the cornerstone of the 2012 Slingshot line is the new Keith Lyman Pro Model. Evolving from the Ballistic Line, Keith Lyman’s all new state of the art pro model combines the most powerful core available with multiple molded base features to generate intense speed and explosive pop. But, you don’t have to ride like Keith to appreciate his board…as the 2012 Lyman has proven to be very rider-friendly.
It’s common for a top-level riders like Keith Lyman to get their own pro model wakeboards, but a pro model for a crew of riders is unheard of…until now. As one of the most revolutionary crews in wakeboarding, Shredtown has taken our sport to a new level. Progression on that level demands the durability and performance that only Slingshot can deliver. This all new board board does it all…and is officially Shredtown approved.
The Fox Spine and Swine, an invite only pro event at Reed Hanson’s house, is going on as I type out these words. Yesterday saw an open Jam Session on the crazy 60 ft. floating Fox Spine Rail pulled by the Sesitec System 2.0
Today is all about the Pro Game of W8K & SK8.
Being that this event is currently in progress, there isn’t a whole lot of information out there as to who is pulling what, etc….and we certainly don’t know who the winners of the Pro Game of W8K and SK8 are, but I can tell you that the Fox Spine Rail is pretty serious. According to Alliance, this monster is constructed out of close to 3,000, 130 two-by-fours, 30 sheets of plywood, 25 two-by-tens, and 36 sheets of PVC…and it took a solid week of hard labor before construction was complete and the spine was anchored.
GoPro has revolutionized Action Sports videography by allowing viewers to see perspectives never thought imaginable before GoPro started producing small, mountable/wearable HD cameras encased in durable waterproof housings. A video posted today on AllianceWake featuring Ambush Boarding Co./BuyWake.com team rider and Global Rider Search v.2 Winner, Scott Stewart, is yet another fine example of what is possible with a GoPro. Prepare to be amazed.
