Every year Hyperlite invites dealers from around the country to attend an event they have dubbed “Shreducation” down in Florida for a few days to talk, ride, and vibe out to their new model year gear. Our very own rockstar Cory got the chance to go and I threw him some questions about the event. As a past participant of Shreducation I was curious how his experience went.

Q:  Can you give us a quick rundown of your first day and what was your initial reaction to seeing all the Hyperlite Team.

Walking into the hotel lobby and seeing the Hyperlite team was like a punch to the gut – the fanboy inside me went into overdrive! Trevor Maurer, JB O’Neil, Kane Ward… all the legends and up comers were just chillin’ there. Getting to chat with Trevor, hearing his rad stories about his journey to becoming Hyperlite’s Marketing and Team Manager, that was seriously mind-blowing.

Day two got even crazier. Rusty and Murray roll up! I mean, I grew up watching these guys rip it up on the water, and now here I was, about to ride with them. Unreal. We hit the lake, Jodi Grassman at the helm, and just as we’re about to take off, JB and Trevor hop in. We decided to give foiling a shot that morning. After the shop guys took their turns, JB strapped in and put on a foil clinic, as per usual. Then Trevor had a go… let’s just say it was an interesting attempt. I’ve never seen anyone get locked into a hard  toeside edge and then proceed to tomahawk the nose of the board. Hilarious and a little terrifying at the same time!

Q:  Did you have a favorite moment of the trip?  Like, did you enjoy surfing more than wakeboarding?

Picking a single favorite moment from the trip is like choosing a favorite pizza topping – impossible! But if I really had to narrow it down, day three on Rusty’s boat takes the cake. Having Aaron Stumpf, the mastermind behind some of Hyperlite’s sickest boards, on the boat was a dream come true. Hearing his stories, geeking out over board design, and even getting to share some of my own two cents after putting the boards through their paces… that was pure gold. And then Joey Harris, their newest wakesurf sensation, hopped on the boat and the stoke level went through the roof. This guy radiates positivity and makes you want to push yourself to new heights. His infectious smile and encouragement had me hooked on wakesurfing all afternoon.

Now, I love some wakeboarding, but that G23 Paragon wave was no joke. It was like trying to tame a beast! I hopped on Trevor’s Blueprint Loaded and while it was an awesome board, riding an unfamiliar board on that monster wave threw me for a loop. Wakesurfing just clicked for me, you know? Maybe it was the laid-back vibe, but I found my groove catching those endless waves.

Q:  With all of the reps there did you get any on hand tech talks about the 2024 Hyperlite line that you took away as a valuable experience?

Diving deep into the 2024 Hyperlite line was like getting the keys to a secret wonderland. But the real gold? Those foil details. Think of it like this: the aspect ratio of the front wing is like the foil’s personality – tweak it just a hair, and suddenly you’ve got a totally different ride vibe. And don’t even get me started on the mast width and fuselage length – it’s like the secret recipe for making that foil glide like butter or turn on a dime. Suddenly, it all clicks – why they design these things with specific riders in mind. Mind. Blown.

Q:  What category (Surf, Wake, Foil) do you think Hyperlite does best?

I would have to say that Hyperlite does best in their wakesurf line. This is where I see Hyperlite trying to expand in the future. The Varial series from Hyperlite is a great line, and the boards are pushing the wakesurf scene to the next level. This line uses high quality materials that create a lightweight board that feels very lively on the water creating a great experience for the rider. My favorite boards from the Varial line are the ARC and the Raygun. The Arc is a surf style board that is fast and agile and has the ability to boost airs. The Raygun is a longboard surf style that is still very agile and fast, but adds the ability to have more fun. You can lay down, hang 5 and walk around the board giving you a different feel on the water.

Q:  How was your last day experiencing Shreducation and did you get any peek or insight on what the 2025 line might look like?

That last day hit me right in the feels – my body was screaming for a nap, but my heart wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the crew or that glorious water. We’d forged some serious bonds with this rad group of Midwesterners, and it was tough to imagine going back to real life without them.

But the real icing on the cake? Getting a juicy sneak peek at the 2025 gear! JB’s got a brand new wakeboard dropping next year and trust me, it looks like an absolute blast behind the boat. The high-end boards are stepping up their game, the new graphics are straight fire. And let’s just say the foil tech is getting a little tweak for 2025… my lips are sealed for now, but trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed.
